How it All Started

Hello,

I am going to start off with just a short post just to get the blog off its feet. And it all started after I got out of the military a long time ago.

One thing that I knew for sure getting out of high school was that I was not going to do any more school. School was not a hot item for me, neither was continuing my education.

So I chased some girl to New Orleans for a few months and when that wasn’t working out I joined the service. I got on sub’s, so you can call me a “bubble head”, which is what submariners are known as.

I did my 4 years and knew that this was not my cup of tea either. So now I was ready to get that education on “uncle Sam”. I went to a tech school down south and asked “what is the hardest thing you have in this school”? The answer was “electro-mechanical technology”. I said that is what I wanted.

They showed me the class before I signed up and we went into the laser class. Here the class was listening to rock n roll, (you have to remember this was the 70’s) and smoking in the class so that they could see the laser beams. This was cool by me, with the rock n roll playing and a laser shining on a speaker and making all of these patterns from the music, I loved it.

So, we started in the class with 38 of us and 1.5 years later we graduated 7. That was why it was the toughest course in the school. I got hired right out of school into the semi conductor industry, but it was out of state.

So, I said my goodbye’s to my parents and off I went for my new life. Now you have to remember that the semi conductor industry was still very young in 1980. It was still a baby industry, but it was a challenging job. Each day going in to find a new problem to fix. I was an equipment engineer so I fixed the machines that made the “integrated circuits or IC’s” as they are known. But what I did not know was that I was the canary in the mine.

The safety standards at that time were none existent and I would get gased, be in on chemical spills and so much more that the public does not know about and is probably better off. It is a very dangerous industry with the chemicals and gases that are used to make the chips.

But preventative maintenance needed to be done and machines needed to be fixed and that was my job. And I did love the challenge. But I did not know that this was going to almost kill me later on in life and leave me disabled for the rest of my life. But it did.

But early on I knew that I did not want to do what I was doing my whole life. I wanted to be my own boss. And this was even at the tender age of 23. I knew I needed to do something else.

Now a few years after getting myself established in life with a good job, I got married to the best lady in the world. I was blessed when this happened to me.

My wife never told me that I could not do something. If I wanted to try something, and most things cost money, she supported me in everything that I did. And let me tell you I did some really stupid things. But that is another story.

So, let leave it here for today and I will be back later to continue on with how I got into internet marketing, MLM, network marketing and much more.

When I First Started Out

When I first started out trying to make money, it so happened at that time mail order was the thing.

So, I created a company called the “Gift Emporium” and found a product that I could market.  I think the product was a hand held can opener.  You remember the ones that could open any can…

Then it was time to market and I decided to run a display ad in some magazine that was national.  I did and it cost me around $700 bucks to run this ad for a month.  I think it was a month.

Well when the ad became public, wow the orders started to roll in.  Man was I excited, but as time went on, the orders were coming in less and less.  And I was in the hole and was not a happy camper.

So I tried another product and another and low and behold, I went farther and farther in the hole.  But so be it. I kept at it, until I decided it was time to move on.

That was when we started to do some MLM or multi level marketing, if you did not know what MLM stood for.  I will tell you about that in the next post.

Have fun and talk to you later.
